I want to use new regulations pro-actively

When new laws are passed, this can affect your business. New laws can, for example, put an end to certain products, ways of making them, or deliveries from certain suppliers.

But new laws can also open doors to new solutions. When a product or a production method can suddenly no longer be used, a need arises for alternative solutions.

Keep an eye on the law – before it changes
Many innovative companies closely monitor the work of lawmakers and develop products and services that will only be a success once new rules are introduced.

You can keep up with the legislative process by asking your trade association. A lot of new legislation is developed at EU level, and your trade association will typically keep an eye on developments in your field.

In other cases, rules are determined locally in the form of local plans and conservation plans. Here your company can monitor developments itself and come up with solutions to take account of the new reality.

Twice the taxes mean twice the gains
Danish company Envotherm, for example, has benefited from environmental requirements which have made it expensive for companies to dispose of heavily polluted wastewater. Envotherm offers to treat this wastewater so that companies can re-use it. This means that companies save twice over.

They do not just save on the cost of disposing of polluted water, they also save on the cost of buying new water – water that has become more expensive due to the imposition of taxes.

People are aware that raised climate standards will come. But what about social standards?

Are you ready with a good product if or when social standards will be raised, for instance in the field of gender equality or poverty reduction?
